Christmas break in Berkshire

Exclusive - 4* Donnington Valley Hotel Spa & Golf Resort in Newbury, Berkshire (AA hotel of the year 2008).

We genuinely believe this package to be the most luxurious and value for money UK Christmas break for single people.

The hotel is set in the beautiful countryside of Royal Berkshire and surrounded by its own golf course. Your host will ensure a welcoming arrival and look after you during this 3 or 4 day 'house party' break. The hotel has 110 rooms in total, 44 standard, 62 executive double rooms and 4 suites. These offered added space and facilities to enjoy during your stay.

This period can be awkward for single people, as generally families and couples are together preparing for Santa Claus while single people have no alternative but to sit back and watch.

This Christmas will be different. You can enjoy all the festivities of Christmas with a group of like-minded single people.

The hotel is 1 hour from Heathrow airport, Jct 13 on the M4 motorway or 5 minutes from Newbury train station.

This break begins on Christmas Eve - Wednesday 24th December 2008.

Guests can arrive at the hotel from 2 pm onwards so if you would like to play golf or enjoy a spa treatment pre book these in advance. Sandwiches, Tea and coffee will be served from 3 to 4.30 pm. Afterwards relax in the hotel bar and meet other guests or take a stroll in the surrounding area.

Before our evening meal you can enjoy a welcome drink (bucks fizz or mulled wine) and canapes. Dinner will have a seasonal warmth to it (Served starter and dessert with an extensive buffet - hot and cold main course selection) with a visiting 20 piece choir, followed by a disco afterwards.

There will be an optional visit to the local Church for midnight service.

On Christmas Day enjoy a leisurely breakfast and then take a stroll to Donnington Castle on an escorted walk with your hosts or simply relax in the hotel. There will be live music from a local jazz/silver band from 1pm followed by a light buffet lunch.

Enjoy your traditional 4 course Christmas Dinner followed by a relaxing night cap in the bar (set menu with a choice of main course)

On Boxing Day

After a lesiurely breakfast vist one of the sights nearby. A walk in the local countryside, Ten Pin Bowling or a great book by the fire! A light buffet lunch will be served at 2pm. In the evening we have our formal dinner dance with luxury 4 course meal, followed by a disco until 1am.

During the break there will be opportunities to play golf, visit the shops in Newbury, try your hand at the local ten pin bowling alley or simply take a stroll to the local village pub (all payable locally).

Donnington Valley will be proud to offer their guests unique facilities at their brand new exclusive Health Club and Spa. Boasting an 18m lap pool, a large jacuzzi, a sauna, steam and aromatherapy room, a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a dance studio and six treatment suites, the Health Club Spa will help to make Donnington Valley 'The New Destination' in the Thames Valley. The facilities will all be open over the festive period.

Guests staying for 3 nights depart after Breakfast on Saturday 27th December. If you wish to stay 4 nights it is available departing on Sunday 28th December. The extra night will be on a Half Board basis without wine at dinner.

On Saturday 27th December

After a lesiurely breakfast take a trip with your hosts by train to Reading where you will find a wealth of shops, restuarants and activties to pass the afternoon. In the evening join your everyone in the bar before dinner. After breakfast on Sunday 28th December you can depart at your leisure.

2008 - Prices are based on accommodation in a standard room on full board with wine at dinner and all entertainment as stated above.

The executive rooms have a supplement of £11 per night. The suites supplement of £23 per night.

The hotel golf course is 5 minutes walk from the hotel and residents received discounted green fees for the course.

New Year Ball in Berkshire

Join us at the 4* Donnington Valley for our 2 night New Year event. Guests can arrive on Tuesday 30th or Wednesday 31st December for a 2 night stay. The Black Tie Ball on New Year's Eve will be a night to remember.

While most of our holidays are happily informal, sometimes it’s good to dress up and pull out all the stops. Our Black Tie and Posh Frocks weekend is a great event and this year we’re at a new venue in Newbury, Berkshire. Book early to avoid disappointment!If you live locally, you can even attend the Ball itself, and go home to your own bed… all the options are shown in the price panel.

Friendship has a private function room in the hotel on New Year’s Eve and for breakfast, so we can have as much fun as we like!

Prices are based on accommodation in a standard room on half board including the Ball and 1/2 bt of wine with dinner on the 31st Dec evening. On New Year's eve enjoy a champagne reception, exquisite 5 course meal, bacon butties at 1am and much more.

On the night before or after the Black Tie Ball enjoy the hotel golf or spa facilities, a walk to Donnington Castle or a stroll around Newbury.
