Details of our City Breaks are given below.
For 2011-12 we have chosen Istanbul, Marrakech, Madrid and Dublin.

On all City Breaks, prices are based on airport transfers by shuttle bus, accommodation in a room for sole use on bed and breakfast and some dinners where stated. All trips are accommpanied by a host. A hop on hop off bus tour is generally arranged for the Saturday in each city, payable locally.

Breaks in 2011 - 12

Everyone is going to Marrakech, from celebrities like Brad Pitt to weekend visitors like us! It’s an exotic, exciting, cultural city which offers a really different experience and fantastic value for shopping and eating out. Haggle in the souks, watch the snake charmers in Djemaa el Fna Square or visit the Majorelle Gardens and the Museum of Islamic Art.

The locals are friendly and welcome European visitors. Surrounded by the Atlas mountains and on the edge of the desert, this vibrant city is a wonderfully different short break choice.

Tichka Hotel - 3 or 4 nights

We stay at one of the best 4-star hotels in the city, in the quieter Palmeraie suburb, only 10 minutes from the bustle of the Medina. The traditional architecture and lovely garden (with outdoor pool) create a stylish atmosphere and there’s an excellent bar and restaurant (we include dinner on 2 nights during our stay.)

Marrakech will have pleasant weather for both are trips with day time temperatures estimated in the mid 20's oC. For further details just ask.

Senatus Hotel

Standing in the heart of Istanbul, Senatus Hotel in Sultanahmet opened its doors in February 2010. The 28 guest rooms and suites have been designed to a very high standard. We are pleased to offer this hotel which is run by our friend Umut from Bodrum.  Click here for further details on the hotel, which is already receiving great reviews!

Guests will be on a B&B basis with one evening meal with wine and airport transfers. Other evenings your host will suggest a local restaurant (payable locally). Transfers from Attaturk airport are included in the basic price. For flights into Gokcen Sabiha a £30 transfer supplement will apply. Ask for regional flights.

Dublin - Ireland

4* O’Callaghan Stephen’s Green Hotel

There’s nowhere on earth like Dublin and no people like the Irish! In terms of sightseeing, you’re spoiled for choice from the Guinness Storehouse Brewery and the illuminated Book of Kells to pretty Ha’penny Bridge and Molly Malone’s statue. But you may find it hard to leave Temple Bar, where the ‘black stuff’ tastes better than it does at home and there’s a great Craic.

O'Callaghan's Hotel on St. Stephen's Green. The boutique-style hotel is a converted Georgian house close to Grafton Street. Our meal plan is B&B, leaving you free to ‘graze’ while sightseeing and meet up with the Friendship gang at a local restaurant for dinner (own expense). We include airport shuttle transfers, a 2 day city sight-seeing pass and accommodation in a double or twin room for sole use.

During your city break the Friendship Travel host will arrange a number of different tours which you can enjoy, point out the main shopping and eating districts and also book restaurants for the group's dinners each evening (payable locally). Flights are available from most UK airports. For anyone who lives in N.Ireland and wishes to drive to Dublin, please ask for further details.

Hard to beat this city for its mix of style, culture, shops and nightlife

Home to labels like Armani, D&G, Prada and Versace, even window-shopping is sublime. Add great bars and clubs, a bit of culture with the magnificent Cathedral and Opera House, and you’ve got a perfect break. The hotel may lack character, but it is good value for such a central location, within 15 minutes’ walk of the city’s heart. B&B is provided, so we can choose lunch and dinner venues to suit our taste-buds and budgets (own expense).

Madrid - Spain

Set right on the very 'grand' Gran Via, 50 metres from a metro station, the hotel is a great base for exploring this exciting city.

It is set in a turn of the century building whose public areas have a contemporary facelift, while the 70 modern rooms are coolly-chic with a monochrome decor warmed by rich wood panelling. During the city break our host will suggest and arrange a wide range of excursions and activties. Each evening they will help guests to select a restaurant for the group to have dinner - payable locally.

Prices are based on airport shuttle transfers, accommodation in a room for sole use with breakfast and the services of our host, so you can snack at lunchtime and try tapas in the evening! The choice of restaurants and food in Madrid is excellent. Many regional flights are available and the weather in February 2012 should be nice to enjoy the city.
