This new ski holiday for Friendship is in Courchevel 1550 – one of the four ski villages making up this chic resort. Courchevel boasts some of the best-groomed pistes in Europe and when you take the gondola ride from 1550 up to 1850 – you have access to the vast 3 Valleys ski area – 600 kms of skiing!

Beginners have plenty of wide, easy pistes that can be reached using the Verdons and Jardin Alpin telecabins, while advanced skiers can enjoy the black run under the Chanrossa chairlift and beneath the Roc Mugnier chair down to ‘Fruit Junction’. Intermediates have a huge variety of runs to enjoy and boarders have a dedicated snow park as well as off-piste options.

If skiing or boarding isn’t a big enough thrill, there are opportunities for hang-gliding, snow-rafting, ice-climbing and tobogganing. You can also hire skidoos, go ice-skating or (up at 1850) bowling.

Nightlife in 1550 is lively and varied, and the main lift up to 1850 stays open into the evening, making it easy to sample the boutiques and bars at the upper village.

Hotel Chanrossa

Our hotel in Courchevel is set just 150 metres or so from the foot of the slopes and is built in traditional Savoyard style. Inside, exposed stone walls, antique furniture and log fires all contribute to the warm atmosphere. The lounge has comfy sofas and chairs set around coffee tables for after-dinner chats, and is at one side of the rustic-style restaurant. Here hearty breakfasts are served and dinner on six nights of the week is included – five courses, with wine at dinner. There are 18 bedrooms, all ensuite and those at the back of the hotel have great views across the valley.
