Courmayeur - Italy
has a great snow record, backed up by one of the most impressive snow-making systems in the Alps. The main ski are, reached by a vast cable car from the village, is friendly terrain - a varied selection of easy and intermediate runs liberally sprinkled with welcoming huts, each with its own panoramic sundeck and house specialities.
- Long adventure runs add a spectular new dimension to Courmayeur's skiing. You need a mountain guide or an instructor to tackle the descents from Arp, although the beautiful run down to Dolonne is not difficult. From the shoulder of Mont Blanc, intermediate skiers can ski the once in a life time Vallee Blanche glacier run to Chamonix (with a mountain guide) while experts tackle the more testing off-piste on the Italian side of the massif.
- The resort has a good selection of shops, bars and cafes for apres ski activities each day. There is also a swimming pool, skating, bowling, tennis, squash and lots to see at the old Roman town of Aosta.
