Villa Adriatica
A Friendship Houseparty in Croatia
The Mediterranean as it used to be – hidden coves lapped by sapphire seas, sunny days and happy nights soaking up the local wine! That’s the joy of re-discovering Croatia. We have chosen Brac, the most scenic of the larger islands and the pretty port of Supetar.
A flight to Split and a ferry crossing to Supetar brings you to one of the largest islands in the Adriatic – Brac.
The coast has a string of pretty coves offering fine swimming from shingle beaches with bustling harbours stuffed full of good restaurants. Inland, cool pine forests and vine-covered slopes clad the hills.
Brac offers rest and relaxation in stunning surroundings under a hot sun – if you want it. Alternatively, your Friendship host can arrange a good choice of excursions if you prefer to explore – such as the monastery of Pustinja Blaca up in the hills or the dazzling white bell towers which adorn many of the local churches.
One must-do trip is to the ‘Golden Horn’ in the south of the island. This 600 metre spur of fine golden shingle juts out into the sea like an animal’s horn – shaped by the prevailing breezes and currents so it is always on the move.

Villa Adriatica
The Villa Adriatica is a friendly, family-run three-star with the scale and style of a true boutique hotel. It is set just 400 metres from the centre of Supetar and is smart, yet unpretentious.
The 24 rooms are spread over three floors and each is light and airy, with a balcony overlooking the gardens. The rooms have been re-furbished in 2009 with sophisticated light wood and rattan furnishings and well-equipped bathrooms which have everything you need. The Mamma Mia restaurant is where we’ll enjoy our included dinners before we venture out on the town!
You’ll find a small pool with limited loungers and a popular garden terrace shaded by palm and olive trees – this is where the bar is.
The little town’s beach is 200 metres away, and here you will find the local dive and watersports schools as well as car hire if you want to explore. If you want a great family run hotel, good beaches and a range of shops and bars, then Brac is for you!
