Turkey – OlüdenizThis beautiful corner of Turkey has been a favourite of ours for many years. It is a dreamy combination of crystal clear seas, golden beaches backed by pine-clad hills and amazing sights well worth getting off your sun-bed for. We are delighted to be partnering for the first time with the Hotel Era, set at the top of the hill between Oludeniz and Hisaronu. This simple, modern hotel is well-run by husband and wife team Ergun and Raziye, who have been welcoming solo travellers to the Era for some years. If you have holidayed here before we believe you’ll appreciate the extra Friendship Travel touches we add. Two British Friendship Travel hosts and our own kitchen and bar team will be based here all summer to create our popular houseparty-style holiday atmosphere. The hotel is just 10 minutes from the golden sands and the Blue Lagoon at Oludeniz beach, using the regular dolmus service – the local minibuses that nip backwards and forwards and on to the larger resort of Fethiye about 10kms away. Era Hotel - OludenizAn exclusive Friendship Houseparty“I have always admired this well-run hotel and I’m delighted that the Era has chosen to work with Friendship Travel for 2010” This simple hotel, built in 1997, is officially rated 2-star and has all the key ingredients for a great value week in the sun. The Era is exclusive to Friendship Travel all summer, with two British hosts based here in. And our All-inclusive board basis at the Era means that you can budget with confidence, without worrying about too many ‘extras’. The focus of the hotel is the turquoise swimming pool surrounded by good-sized sun terraces with sun-beds for everyone, with a shady bar and al-fresco dining areas. Though the hotel is modern, there are plenty of traditional touches in the wood panelling of the bar, the hubble bubble pipe and the odd hammock tucked away in shady corners of the garden. The ensuite, twin-bedded rooms – for sole occupancy of course – are a good size, each ensuite and with bath and beach towels provided. Standard ground floor rooms – on which the holiday price is based – have a terrace; rooms on the first and second floor have a small balcony. The hotel is only a few minutes’ stroll from a good choice of bars and shops for after-dinner drinks and nightlife, as well as the weekly market. The bus-stop is just around the corner, for easy trips down to the Blue Lagoon or over to Fethiye. All-Inclusive detailsFood is fresh, local and plentiful. The buffet breakfast is a ‘come-when-you’re-ready’ feast; lunch is a plated salad or sandwiches and dinner in the evening is a set menu or buffet. The All-inclusive package includes – from 10am until 10pm each day – unlimited local spirits including vodka, gin, raki and brandy, wine, beer, soft drinks and bottled water (all served by the glass). Ice creams are available between 12 noon and mid-afternoon and then it’s time for afternoon tea! You will be glad to know that there are no bathroom scales in the hotel! Please note that, by popular request, dinner is not included on two evenings, so that we can try out the local restaurants (at your own expense). Lycian Way Walking WeeksSelected weeks at the Hotel Era are earmarked asWalking Holidays. The Era will be our base for five days of guided walking along part of the famous Lycian Way. This coastal trail takes in picturesque hamlets, ancient sites and hidden coves. Within the normal cost of a holiday at the Era we include the services of our Walks leader(s) and transport to and from each day’s walk. Any reasonably fit and mobile person can enjoy our Walking Holidays, but if you are in any doubt about your ability, please give the Friendship Travel office a call.
