Alpine Activities 2012

The French Alps are not just for skiing! Les Deux Alpes is a summer playground with a host of activities on offer in a spectacular mountain setting. We are returning to a favourite ski hotel for this great new holiday.

Les Deux Alpes is one of France’s original ski destinations and has matured into a great all-round resort, both for daytime activities and night-time fun. It is set high in the picturesque Dauphine region. The air is razor sharp and without their mantle of snow, the mountains in summer provide a very different holiday experience.

For those who cannot imagine Les Deux Alpes without skiing, then try summer skiing! The Jendri Express cable cars can carry you up to the Galcier du Mont de Lans where the snow stays all year, and you will also want to visit the Grotte De Glace, or ice caves, for their extraordinary ice sculptures.

The mountains are criss-crossed by hiking trails with low-level walks for beginners and more challenging hikes available. Mountain biking is one of the most popular options and in the resort you’ll also find tennis and swimming by day and a host of bars and clubs by night.

Our host will be based at the Chalethotel, will look after Friendship guests and ensure there is never a dull moment! Flights will be into LYON airport and transfers take 120 minutes approx.

Chalethotel La Bérangère

The luxurious Chalethotel La Berangere faces south, with breathtaking views over the Massif de l’Osians.

The well-furnished social areas provide comfy places to plan the day’s activities, as well as a bar area and restaurant. Take a breather between activities with a swim in the outdoor pool or sunbathing on the terrace.

The rooms – which are four-star standard – are light and spacious. Most have a picture window and south-facing balcony as well as a good-sized bathroom.

The holiday provides half-board, with a continental buffet breakfast each morning and an a la carte three-course dinner each evening – with wine. This leaves you free to try the many local restaurants at lunchtime or buy a picnic to take on activities.
