FuerteventuraSunshine islandFuerteventura is the closest of the Canaries to the coast of Africa and boasts 3,000 hours of sunshine a year. The island has some stunning sandy beaches and vast dunes and is a superb destination for windsurfers. We are returning to the lovely Costa Calma – which translates literally as the ‘calm coast’ on the south of the island, and the resort of Sotavento. Carefully-planned development in the last two years has created an attractive and established resort. Our hotel enjoys views of Sotavento beach and is well-designed to integrate into the lovely natural surroundings – which include 32 kms of white sand and a lagoon. Apart from the hotels’ great facilities and the watersports, the island rewards those prepared to explore. There are superb rock carvings on Mount Tindaya, a desert-full of cacti at the botanical gardens, and a glimpse of traditional island life at the Tefia Craft Village. Take a camel ride across the dunes, wander the old capital of Betancuria – burned by pirates in 1593 or take a boat trip to tiny Los Lobos island for an away-from-it-all experience. Our all inclusive board basis provides a sumptuous buffet breakfast including eggs cooked to order! At lunchtime there is an international buffet or the snack bar for people who can’t bear to leave the pool… and ice creams, snacks and cakes are on offer during the afternoon! We come together each night for a full buffet dinner in one of the restaurants. Mineral water, soft drinks, beers and house wines are all included and there’s even free Cava on tap two days each week! DRinks are included at set times, from set outlets. Fuerteventura fun
