Get your glad rags on for our ‘Black Tie with a touch of Red’ Ball on Valentine’s weekend. We have chosen the easy to reach venue of the Harpenden House Hotel which is only a few miles from Junction 9 off the M1, close to St. Albans and 20 minutes from Luton airport.

There’s a great disco after dinner, or you might prefer to chat to new friends in the bar until late. Whatever time you get to bed, don’t miss the full English breakfast the next morning.

The hotel is located a short distance from St. Albans, so why not make a weekend of your break and stay an extra night. You can visit one of the many sites in the area.

Step out on our walking weekend in the New Forest - but don't worry, you don't need to be a hairy-kneed hiker to enjoy it. There are very few landscapes in this country that look the same today as they did a thousand years ago, but the New Forest is one of them, with ancient oak and beech woods hiding wild deer and shaggy New Forest ponies. The small town of Lyndhurst is 10 miles west of Southampton. It has a nice mix of pubs and shops and is the 'capital' of the Forest.

A local guide will tell us more about the area on Friday evening and will lead us on an 8 mile (approx) walk on Saturday, with a leisurely lunch break at a local pub (own expense). We'll enjoy another (short) walk on Sunday morning. You do not need to be super fit, but do wear sensible walking shoes.

We include accommodation in a room for sole use, dinner (with wine) on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as breakfast each morning. If you are unable to join us on the Friday evening due to work commitments, please ask about a 1 night / 2 day package.

Join us for this extended Bank Holiday for a Black Tie Ball & BBQ Sunday Lunch to celebrate – or to avoid - the Queen’s Jubilee!  The hotel has excellent facilities and is located close to St. Albans with easy access to M1, M25. Arrive from mid-afternoon on Saturday and enjoy the hotel facilities before an informal dinner in the Winepress restaurant.  On Sunday afternoon the hotel is having a BBQ for all guests (including us) and Sunday night is Friendship Travel’s Black Tie Ball.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park has outstanding scenery, a range of wildlife habitats and a rich cultural heritage. It's a special place - a fantastic outdoor arena for recreation and peaceful relaxation and a haven for wildlife.

We'll enjoy another (short) walk on Sunday morning. You do not need to be super fit, but do wear sensible walking shoes.
