A mega casino project being put together by American multi-billionaire Sheldon Adelson is at the centre of a tug of war between two of Europe’s most vibrant cities.

Barcelona and Madrid are both vying for the right to host aLas Vegas style resort, dubbed Eurovegas, which will see a complex of hotels and casinos generating up to 200,000 jobs.

Likened to the ‘El Classico’ derby, where the two cities do battle on the football pitch, representatives from both Madrid and Barcelona are desperate to woo one of the richest men in the world to invest in their city.

Mr Adelson, who owns the company Las Vegas Sands and has casinos in Las Vegas and Macau in China, has not been put off by the current Euro zone crisis and looks set on expanding an already impressive nightlife in the stunning Spanish cities.

With talks ongoing, the completion of this Las Vegas style resort is some way off. However, you can still grab a taste of Catalonian culture or sample some Madrid magic whilst on some exhilarating holidays for singles.
