With Christmas and New Year celebrations just about finished I’m on my way back to The UK after hosting in Lanzarote at the Lanzarote Princess Hotel from Friendship Travel. What fun we had! Christmas seems so long ago, it’s hard to believe we were only dancing to the Pogues and rocking around the Christmas tree just 2 weeks earlier!

For our guests the days were spent either lazing by the pool, or relaxing at the beach. Some were even brave enough to go for a dip in the sea. Others would take a stroll into the nearby town, or adventure further afield on excursions, and walking to local sights.

Evenings were a social affair meeting at the hotel bar each night for pre-dinner drinks, before making our way to the restaurant to enjoy a variety of food . After dinner some would choose to have a drink in the piano bar, while others who preferred something a bit more lively explored the nearby bars to see what was going on.

Playa Blanca is not short of live music so it wasn’t hard to find a few bars within walking distance of the hotel. So on Christmas Eve we adventured to Mollies Irish bar to join in the festive spirit, there was lots of dancing and singing with everyone joining in, a fun night was definitely had by all.

Sunny beach in Lanzarote

New Year was just as exciting, and to add to all the fun at midnight there was a firework display around the bay of Playa Blanca. The hotel also put on a party with party bags and music until late…..luckily breakfast was more of a brunch. The gala celebration dinners were a feast with an excellent spread . The hardest choice was trying to decide what to eat!! Seafood such as Lobster and crab, or succulent rack of lamb and stuffed Turkey breast, all served with wine and bubbly on both occasions.

With everyone in the party mood, plenty of laughter, and lovely sunshine most days a good time was had by all, and new friendships formed!

But with Christmas behind us, and a new year just started I’m sure it won’t be long until our guests will start thinking about their next holiday. With winter months still ahead it’s a perfect time for skiing, or if you prefer the beach as apposed to the slopes then we have a few choices, Lanzarote, Cape Verde, Egypt and Cyprus. If you prefer long haul there’s Jamaica, St. Lucia, and new for 2013 Mexico!

For myself I’m looking forward to a break now, however it won’t be long before I start thinking about what I need to be packing back in my suitcase as I will be hosting the first group to Mexico in February, which I’m really looking forward to!!
