Croatian city praised in Chicago Tribune article An article published recently in leading US newspaper the Chicago Tribune has heaped praise on the beautiful Croatian city of Split.

The complimentary piece, entitled ‘Croatia’s past lives on in modern-day Split’, was written by travel writer and presenter Rick Steves, who explained how the city’s down-to-earth atmosphere and traditional charm makes for a much less commercial and more ‘real’ experience than that provided by most other Mediterranean destinations.

Steves was particularly impressed by the way in which the ancient past collides effortlessly with ancient history in Split, with its Roman palace and the Cathedral of St. Dominus a mere stone’s throw away from the ultra-modern, vibrant city centre. The writer was also keen to mention the town’s open-air Green Market as a great place to pick up quality fresh local produce.

Friendship Travel offers an amazing range of singles holidays to many destinations around the world, and our Croatian cruises include stop-offs in Split, as well as Dubrovnik, Brac and several other historic locations.
