Thanks in part to British travellers, the island destination of Cyprus continues to be a location of choice for those looking for a relaxing, sun-soaked holiday. According to reports, the island continues to break records for the number of tourists coming to Cyprus.

In June alone, more than 400,000 tourist arrivals took place. This capped off a best-ever six-month period for Cyprus where other travel records were broken.

“It is the best June in terms of arrivals in the history of Cyprus tourism. Moreover, these are the second best monthly figures ever after July 2015 (with 414,527 arrivals),” the Cyprus Tourist Organisation said in a statement. “For the first time in tourism history, arrivals during the quarter April-June surpassed the one million mark.”

Cyprus has grown into a favourite for those looking for great singles holidays in the Mediterranean. For Friendship travellers, they can look forward to staying at a great resort in Paphos depending on the time of year. The Smartline Hotel for winter travellers and The Tasmaria in the summer are our favourite resorts on the island. Our resorts are all an ideal distance from perfect beaches, historical sites and some of the best food and entertainment in Cyprus.

Since the beginning of the year, tourists from Britain – officially Cyprus’ largest holiday market – saw an increase of 21.1 per cent over last year, nearing almost 150,000 travellers in the first six months. In another report, local airport operator Hermes said they expect 8.5 million people to travel through airports at Larnaca and Paphos – setting a new record.

“The prospect of breaking another historic record in passenger movement at Cyprus’ airports is the culmination of Hermes’ efforts to enrich the country’s air connectivity even further thus strengthening its tourism industry,” the operator said to local media.
