OK, not gossip really – that’s not our style at Friendship Travel – our guests’ secrets are safe with us! But not to be outdone by Mel’s first post under the Tales from Turkey header, I wanted to talk about what’s been happening on ‘my’ lovely island of Rhodes, and Friendship Travel’s home resort of Lindos.
Sadly, the Amphitheatre Nightclub has closed – it was a heck of a last night party but a shame that it was the same day that all the taxi drivers were on strike! But not to worry – the long-awaired Lindos Ice Bar has opened!
It’s allegedly the largest Ice Bar in Europe and certainly the only one in Greece. Lots of locals were keen to get in on the opening night, as well as all the island’s visitors – though it was as well to wrap up, cos it was MINUS 6 inside!
If I can cope with the uploading fiddle, I’ll post a picture of me, Andrea and Colum (the boss) in Lindos Ice Bar. We loved it, and so do the guests on our singles holidays in Rhodes.
Back at Caesar’s Gardens – which is a really lovely family-run place – we’ve had a couple of less glamorous celebrations. The barman/chef/handyman Vasilis treated us all to chocolate on the birth of his new baby daughter (babies and chocolate go hand in hand in Greece). And one of our guests celebrated a birthday while on holiday, so that was a good excuse for cake – though we felt obliged to dance off the calories at Yannis Bar later that night, where the weekly salsa night is a great laugh.
Looking forward now to a taste of luxury on our singles week at Lindos Memories, Friendship Travel’s five-star hotel on Rhodes… mind you, the five-course dinners aren’t good for my waistline.
