Jamaica Visitor Numbers Hit New High in 2012The number of visitors to the stunning Caribbean island of Jamaica reached new highs in 2012, with over 3.3million visitors to the island’s sunny shores.

The number of tourists to the island was up 7.4% when compared to the 2011 figures, which is great news for the local economy. The bulk of the traffic increases came from the cruise sector but there were increases in other areas too, including both package and singles holidays.

Its warm climate, azure seas, sandy beaches and green landscape have always been popular and the latest rises really highlight just how attractiveJamaicais as a destination. It currently ranks as one of the fastest growing destinations in the Caribbean too, with the success of the nation’s entrants at the London Olympics boosting the region’s international appeal, so this growth should carry on into the future along with additional investment in local attractions.
