Visitor arrivals to Jamaica in 2011 hit record numbers according to a monthly statistical report published by the Jamaica Tourist Board.
A record 3.07 million people made the trip to Jamaica by sea and air last year, representing an 8.4 per cent rise year-on-year and beating the previous record six years ago.
The news comes at a good time for the Caribbean nation, which is preparing to welcome more tourists for the upcoming holiday season.
It is thought the rise in figures have been aided by an increased amount of tourists coming from Canada, off setting a slight decline in numbers from the US and Europe as economic troubles continue to stalk nations across the world. The construction of the Falmouth Cruise Pier has also helped the country establish a healthy growth in its tourism sector.
