A study by the Bank of Greece has revealed that over 20 million holidaymakers visited Greece from January to October 2014.

Over 20 million holidaymakers from across the world have visited GreeceThis was a 21.9 per cent increase in the number of visitors compared to the same period in 2013, whilst the Greek travel industry also saw revenue from visitors rise by 10.6 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Greece is renowned as being popular for singles holidays and the study by the Bank of Greece revealed that revenue from January to October 2014 reached just over €13 million.

Revenue from British holidaymakers was up 18.4 per cent and reached just over €1,567 million, whilst revenue from German residents reached €1,807 million and holidaymakers from France hit €1,140 million, according to a report on the Greek Reporter site.

Holidaymakers from the UK rose by 12.9 per cent in the period, while holidaymakers from Germany rose by 8.8 per cent and France by 27.4 per cent.
