Excellent news for all would be travellers to sunny Portugal, as the popular destination is set to be 2017’s cheapest holiday destination.
According to the annual Post Office Holiday Money Report, which compares the average cost of holidays in 44 destinations worldwide, Portugal stands tall above its competition.
The Post Office barometer looks at the cost of eight items that comprise a nice Portuguese dinner, with wine, a selection of drinks, sun cream, and even insect repellent.
The report found that the Algarve, Portugal’s incredibly popular southern coastal region, was the absolute best value for money for the second year running, with a total of £33.36 which works out to be only 10% (£4) more than a year ago.
So as British families, and individuals looking for singles holidays travel further afield for their summer kicks, Portugal only looks more appealing with these latest developments. Fun times in the sun and cash in your pocket. Not much can better than that.
Marmaris also fared well in the report; coming 4th with a total cost of £49.74, showing that Turkey continues to be great value for money, rivalling the worlds very best tourist destinations.
