Travelling to a foreign country on a singles holiday can seem daunting to some people and one important aspect many holidaymakers check is how safe their intended destination is.
Those of you considering going on a singles holiday to Croatia, Spain or Portugal will be delighted to hear that a new report found those countries to be among the safest in the world for holidaymakers to visit.
The Croatia Week online magazine revealed that the 2017 Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report ranked Croatia as the 24th safest country in the world, while Spain was ranked 18th and Portugal 11th.
The report looked at 136 countries on factors and policies that influence travel and tourism, including exposing holidaymakers and businesses to security risks such as violence and terrorism.
The most dangerous destination in the world, according to the report, was Colombia followed by Yemen and El Salvador.
Spain, Italy and Croatia fare well in overall rankings
The overall rankings when all factors, including cultural strengths and infrastructure, are taken into account sees Spain ranked as number one in the world, Italy ranked eighth and Croatia ranked in 32nd place.
Spain, which is well-known for being a great holiday destination all-year round, was just ahead of France and Germany, who came in second and third respectively.
Making up the rest of the reports overall top 10 were Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Canada and Switzerland.
Other popular holiday destinations like Portugal came in 14th in the overall standings, while Ireland (23rd), Greece (24th) and Cyprus (52nd) all were rated as extremely safe.
Taking into account the infrastructure and culture, Yemen was rated the most dangerous place for holidaymakers to visit in the overall standings after Chad, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
