The Spring Bank Holiday (which is also half term for those working in education) gives us the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely weekend in the Heart of England, at the Crowne Plaza: a smart 4-star with good facilities and in an easy to reach location.
Our smart dinner dance is on Sunday 26 May, and our core package is a 1-night stay that ends after a leisurely breakfast on Bank Holiday Monday morning. There’s also the option to arrive on Saturday 25 May for a 2-night stay, with informal group arrangements for Saturday night suggested by your Host, with a range of eateries in the adjacent Touchwood Shopping Centre, plus a multi-screen cinema, and Solihull’s Core Theatre. (Note that the hotel hosts a wedding on Saturday.)
Either way, the main focus of the weekend is our Sunday evening 4-course dinner with wine in the hotel’s private Ballroom, followed by a Disco until late. The hotel’s stylish public areas offer plenty of sofas and chairs for sociable conversations, and the bar stays open until late.
On Bank Holiday Monday morning, there’s an impressive breakfast buffet, including ‘the full English’ for those with the appetite, and while the hotel asks you to check out of your room by 11am, there is no need to rush off.
The dress code for Sunday night is smart, but not Black Tie.
