A study by Post Office Travel Money has revealed that the Algarve offers the best value for money for Brits than anywhere else in Europe.
Thousands of Brits head to the Algarve on singles holidays every year and this year the popular resort will be cheaper than ever before as the Euro takes a pounding.
The new research found that in general Brits will enjoy a 20 per cent reduction in the price of food and drink across Europe.
The Algarve and Spain’s Costa del Sol were found to be the cheapest destinations to visit for Brits, with coffee on average costing just 52p in the Algarve and 88p in the Costa del Sol. Local beer in Portugal averaged at just 74p compared to £1.47 in Spain, whilst a glass of wine was just £1.11 in Portugal compared to £1.29 in Spain.
Andrew Brown of the Post Office Travel Money told the Daily Mirror, “It will be hard to beat Portugal and Spain but, as the weather warms up, Greece is shaping up to be great value too.”
