An Algarve tourism chief has predicted the region to resist ongoing financial problems in Europe, and continue to establish itself as a leading tourism destination.

Alberta Pina, president of the regional ERTA tourist board, believes the Algarve, renowned around the world for its stunning beaches and beautiful weather, hosts a number of niches that will continue to make it a hugely popular holiday location.

It is thought tourism chiefs in the region will continue to invest in a series of facets which have helped build the Algarve’s appeal to tourists across the world, such as sun, sea and golf, whilst also looking at targeting unexplored activities such as bird-watching, diving, rural and accessible tourism.
