Laboe

The Paphos chamber of commerce and industry has announced plans to extend the artificial reef in the surrounding waters of Cyprus, a move which shows their intention to further develop the offering of dive tourism in the area.

The announcement was made by Andreas Demetriades, the president of the chamber, who said that the main aim was to create a marine park around the wreck of the Laboe – a vessel that was sunk back in June of this year.

With the waters surrounding the island of Cyprus known to be warm and teeming with sea life, it’s a fantastic destination for diving and developing its appeal could offer a great activity to be enjoyed by those on a singles holiday in the region.

As well as this, it was also confirmed that the chamber of commerce is looking into creating a second reef in the nearby town of Polis. In reference to this, Mr Demetriades said that the development of sports tourism in general is a key objective for Paphos.
