Brits skiing insuranceA survey conducted by national law firm Irwin Mitchell has found that up to one in four Brits suffer injuries when on their skiing holidays.

The new research shows that 23 per cent of skiers from the UK suffer injuries abroad, and for those who are set to hit the slopes this February half term and looking to find their perfect winter singles holidays abroad, there are even more reasons to reinforce the importance of taking and wearing specialist equipment whilst on holiday.

Of the 3,812 people that were surveyed, 40 per cent have been injured or suffered accidents on the slopes in previous trips.

The law firm is urging travellers to buy and invest in appropriate travel insurance when booking and planning your next ski holiday.

Speaking to the Western Morning News, Clive Garner, Head of International Personal Injury Law at Irwin Mitchell said: “Skiing is a hugely enjoyable sport but the risks are real and our survey suggests that a high number of people are suffering serious injuries abroad ruining their holidays and causing long term consequences.

“Our Safety on the Slopes campaign aims to raise awareness of the serious nature of these injuries and the impact they can have on people’s lives in the hope of reducing the risk of these happening.

“If you go skiing this season then stay safe, stick to the suggested courses appropriate for your skill level and don’t try anything you’re not comfortable with.”
