Hello everyone, Julie here, just checking in with an update on my recent travels.  After enjoying Christmas and New Year in Egypt’s sunshine, I have had a relaxing couple of months seeing all my family and friends in the UK.  I never get to see them in the summer, as I’m zipping around the Med for Friendship Travel all season, so I love my winter break!

I was full of beans for my first singles holiday of the year in the Cape Verde islands, where we had an amazing couple of weeks.  The sun was well and truly out, and for many guests simply chilling by the pool with a cocktail or nice cold beer was the objective most days, though we did have a few more adventurous types who headed off over the horizon on jeep safaris, boat trips and even on a flight to Santiago for the day!  Most of us were content to adventure by local taxi service though – that took courage enough!

After Cape Verde, I had four days at home, just time to wash, iron and re-pack my suitcase and here I am now in Costa Teguise on the lovely island of Lanzarote. The first couple of days were overcast, but this didn’t stop our single travellers getting out and about. A dull day is a great opportunity to explore Timanfaya National Park, or Jameos Del Agua and as you travel around the island there’s lots to see of the island’s famous architect and artist César Manrique – his work is everywhere.

We’ve had some fantastic evenings on Lanzarote.  One night nine guests went off to the Rancho Texas BBQ night and enjoyed a western-style BBQ buffet with plenty of sangria and beer followed by a live show – a night of good old thigh-slapping and toe-tapping!  And if that wasn’t enough excitement for one trip (?!) the following night some people stumbled into a drag club, who by all accounts put on a show especially for them … judging by the pictures a good night was had by everyone – especially our gentlemen guests!

No-one has to eat alone on a Friendship Travel holiday!

The sun is well and truly shining in Lanzarote now, so lounging by the pool is how many are going to spend their last few days. As for me, my next journey is to Portugal for Easter, before going back to my second home – Rhodes – for the summer.

Hope to see you all again soon – Julie
