Sunset over Havana

The colourful country of Cuba proved to be a popular destination for tourists in 2018 with a record number of visitors exploring everything the country has to offer.

The island nation comprises of the island of Cuba, Isla de la Juventud and several minor island groups. Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean and is full of rich flora and fauna as well as breathtaking landscapes, crystal clear waters, golden sandy beaches and a powerful culture.

It is not hard to see why the country attracted a record number of visitors in 2018. According to the Daily Mail, 4.75million people set foot on the island in 2018. They went on to report that Government officials revealed this rise in tourism was up almost 60% from four years ago and was partly due to more cruise ships arrivals.

During a recent press conference, which was held in Havana, the island’s capital, officials stated that Cuba’s travel industry is hoping to attract more than 5million visitors in 2019. This is a far cry from previous years when the country had been closed to tourists travelling from the United States of America.

Cuba has a plethora of exciting things to do and places to explore.
