Hi, it’s Mel again!  Reporting from Greece this time, after catching the hydrofoil from Fethiye and, an hour and a half later, stepping off in Rhodes harbour.   As I disembarked in the shadow of a huge cruise ship I looked up and saw the name and had a chuckle: Costa Fortune – and by the look of it, it probably did!

Friendship Travel’s Host Julie kindly met me at the port, and drove me to Lindos for a two night stay at Caesars Gardens Hotel.  As it was changeover day there were sad goodbyes, and jolly hellos as guests came and went.  It was obvious they had all enjoyed their singles holiday and I could see why as soon as I arrived.

The pool area instantly felt like the perfect place to unwind and relax.   It was a shame I was there to work!  The friendliness of the staff made you feel very welcome, especially bubbly Kosmos, the manager, who is a lively character.

The apartments are lovely and spacious with modern decor and I really like the fact that they all face the pool.  It wasn’t long before everyone was congregating by the bar for pre-dinner drinks.  Conversation and laughter flowed at the dinner table, as did the wine and tasty Greek food.  Some guests retired to bed after a long day travelling, while others continued to enjoy the evening

For me, it was up bright and early the following morning to help set up breakfast, and get organised for the welcome meeting which took place after we’d eaten.  Most guests joined the ‘Resort Ramble’ into Lindos, which is a good orientation tour.

Then, while all the guests settled by the pool to bask in glorious sunshine, my work continued – off to visit the five-star singles hotel that we use here: Lindos Memories.  What a beautiful place: I can see why it’s so popular with our single travellers looking for a bit of luxury.   The service, hospitality, ambiance and food were all first class.

But the day was far from over.  That evening we dined out in Caesars Restaurant, with more fabulous food and wine, followed by our famous Nightshift ‘tour’ – a cue for another late night for some.

Once again I was up early – even if the guests were not!  Eventually everyone made it to breakfast, with some great tales of the night’s fun….   Most moved only as far as their sun-beds, but a few souls with more stamina were heading off sightseeing as I left to catch the hydrofoil back to Turkey.

Memo to self: must really go back to Rhodes when I’m not on duty, so I can enjoy the nightlife properly!
