Costa Brava coast

For those who enjoy hitting the links, Costa Brava – just north of Barcelona – is attracting more and more people to its amazing golf courses. According to the region’s tourism board, Costa Brava has experienced a two-thirds increase in popularity with golfers in the last two years.

The uptick in popularity is thanks to visits from travellers from France, Germany, and the UK. There have been more than 100,000 golfers to visit Costa Brava over the course of 2013-2015, the tourist board announced.

“It has been very encouraging to see such an upswing in the number of golf visitors to the region – and in particular, the increase of Catalan golfers visiting Costa Brava,” said Ramón Ramos, director of the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board in a news report. “Coupled with new flight routes, we remain confident this momentum will continue and look forward to welcoming new – and returning – golf visitors to one of Europe’s most distinct and culturally-rich golf destinations.”

For those looking to play some great golf and planning a solo holiday, we love Costa Brava. Located right on the beach, you can stay at the Hotel Stella and Spa. The resort of Pineda de Mar is just an hour north of Barcelona. It offers golden sand beaches and is surrounded by the Montenegre National Park.

The Costa Brava region has been called the fastest-growing destination for this season. For golfers, there are courses to attract all kinds of players. You will find courses with stunning coastal views as well as great mountain courses. Combined with the amazing culinary traditions and the diverse Catalan culture, it is no wonder that tourism to Costa Brava has become so popular.
