A report by the Civil Aviation Authority has revealed that in the first quarter of 2014, Greece has seen a rise in the number of international visitors.

Greece has seen an 11.8 per cent rise in international air arrivals in the first few months of 2014The figures show that Greece has seen an 11.8 per cent rise in international air arrivals to 980,432 people and a rise of 17.3 per cent in travel revenues to €294.1 million, which is better than its competitors.

Greece is renowned for being a popular destination for singles holidays and now the country is fast becoming one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world.

The Civil Aviation Authority study also reveals that even domestic holidays in Greece has risen by 1.7 per cent, with 945,715 people deciding to holiday in another part of the country.

The research highlighted that Greece’s rivals, such as Cyprus, saw the number of international visitors decrease by 7.8 per cent in the first few months of 2014, Spain saw an increase of 7.2 per cent and Turkey an increase of 3.2 per cent.
