Officials in Greece are looking to tourism in helping their battle against their current financial problems, as the holiday season fast approaches.

Stunning scenery and vibrant night are some of the things keeping holiday makers coming back to the country year after year, good news for the 15% of the Greek population that work in the tourism industry.

According to the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises president Andreas Andreadis, tourism has the potential to bring Greece back from economical problems to competiveness. 

He said: “Greek tourism remains resilient to the recession and is perhaps the only sector that can contribute to growth. Placing Greece in the world’s top ten tourist destinations [by 2020] may be ambitious but it is not impossible.”
