Cyprus encourages water sport holiday fansCyprus is billing itself as the place to go for sailing and water sport breaks after Cypriot success at the London 2012 Olympics.

Pavlos Kontides won silver in the men’s laser sailing event, the first ever Olympic medal for Cyprus. With Great Britain also having a great year for sailing after Ben Ainslie’s fourth gold medal, the time has never been better to get involved with water sports.

With Pavlos Kontides’ medal success and growing interest in water sports, the Cyprus Tourism Organisation is encouraging people to visit the country and enjoy the range of water activities that can be done there. There are two marinas along the coastline, nearly a dozen sailing schools and a huge number of beaches, coves and ports available to explore.

Even those looking for holidays for singles that are more about relaxing than working up a sweat will find something for them in Cyprus; the beautiful blue sea and sandy beaches are the perfect setting for a laidback holiday.
