The London 2012 Olympics are over and people are now looking forward to what is coming up next. Brazil is already putting preparations for the 2016 Olympics in place, but the battle is now hotting up for the 2020 offering. It seems that Tokyo and Istanbul are currently neck-and-neck in the bid to be host city.
There is just under a year to go until the vote and the competition looks fierce. Istanbul has plenty to bring to the table and a lot of this is down to the colourful history it has and the melting pot of culture it has nurtured over the years.
Turkey is renowned as a place where East meets West, something that already makes it a popular destination for those looking for singles holidays. Having its capital as the host city for the Olympics in 2020 seems to be one of the most appealing options exactly for this reason.
Istanbul’s chances against Japan are quite strong thanks to its tourism draws and we shall find out if it wins the race next September when the vote is cast.
