The figures are in and Mexico is now celebrating a big year for tourism in 2016.

Mexico Tourism

Enjoying a banner year as reported by Yahoo News, Mexico’s tourism industry has hit “historic highs” the government has said on Wednesday.

According to the country’s tourism ministry, 35 million foreign visitors went to Mexico in 2016, which is up nine percent from the previous year. As a result, tourists brought in £19.5 billion into the nation which itself is up 10.4 percent from 2015.

The results show, according to the government, that the tourism sector is a standout for Mexico and “one of the main driving forces” behind its economy.

They will of course be hoping to repeat the feat in 2017, and you certainly wouldn’t put it past them. Mexico really has something for everyone, and those that are looking abroad for their singles holiday this year are bound to enjoy its pleasures.

With Mexico’s white sand beaches, the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea, and its many ancient ruins, it’s no surprise travellers are flocking to its shores.
