New Monthly Record set for Mallorca’s Airport in AugustThe Balearic Island of Mallorca broke its own record for passenger numbers this August with almost 3.5 million people passing through its doors.

Mallorca’s international airport is highlighting just how good this year’s summer season has been for the island with these numbers making it Spain’s third busiest airport, just behind Madrid and Barcelona. The other Balearic Islands have also put up a strong showing, but they’re nowhere near Mallorca’s numbers.

The increase in tourist numbers is being put down to a surge of last minute bookings from places like the UK, where the summer season this year wasn’t the best. Mallorca’s always been a firm favourite for Brits and, with its warm and sunny climate, it makes for great solo holidays.

The good news for the popular holiday destination is that the numbers for September look just as good, so Mallorca may well be seeing a bumper year for holidays.
