Singles holidays for over 50s - The New Club 18-30Singles holidays for over 50s are the new club 18-30 – a report has found that older travellers make up more than 50% of all holiday spending.

Travelsphere, the UK’s number 1 escorted tours operator, reports that 45-54 year olds have more holidays than all other age groups. The ‘Frequent Flying and Globe Trekking Older Travellers Report’ also showed that in 2010 40% of long haul trips were made by 45-64 year olds.

Not only this, the report also showed an increase in online booking by older holidaymakers. 66% of over 55s booked their holiday online in 2010, compared to 57% of under 45s. Either way, these were both increases on previous figures.

The current financial climate is being blamed for decreasing holiday bookings by the under 45s. Page & Moy Travel CEO, Ian Smith, also suggests that, unlike under 45s, over 45s consider holidays as an essential.

On this basis, singles holidays for over 50s appear to be the new club 18-30.
