Often seen as the perfect holiday location, Spain continues to be the destination of choice for millions of people, with the country welcoming a record-breaking number of overseas visitors in the month of July.

According to Reuters, the 10.5 million foreign arrivals who flocked to Spain to enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine was the highest figure ever recorded for a single month, representing a 10.1% year-on-year rise.

Earlier fears about the prospect of Brexit and the weak pound affecting UK visitor numbers appear to have been unfounded, meanwhile, with the news that 22.1% of those coming to Spain were from Britain. This also means that more holidaymakers visited Spain from the UK – an incredible 2.3 million – than from any other country.

These latest monthly results are particularly encouraging for those who predicted that this year would be the most successful ever for tourism in Spain, with the number of holiday breaks for singles and families being enjoyed so far in 2017 standing at 46.9 million – an impressive rise of 11.3% on last year.
