National Geographic has named its top Adventurers of the Year. The list, including climbers, photographers and ultramarathoners, praises people for their incredible achievements in adventure.

The award was created in order to honour people who have achieved the seemingly impossible and pushed the limits of human capability. To narrow down the long list they asked various bloggers, filmmakers, photographers and athletes to name those who inspire them the most.

Some of the people on the list include Christina Mittermeier and Paul Nicklen, photographers and scientists who are working to create and protect healthy oceans- Rajesh Magar, one of Asia’s top mountain bikers who started out riding on a bike he made himself- and finally, Kilian Journet, a mountain runner who has achieved the staggering accolade of summiting Everest twice without oxygen in only five days.

Whilst you may not be looking for that level of adventure, our solo holidays can be a great way for you to fulfil your wanderlust and embrace the spirit of these fine adventurers.
