The 2015 Volta ao Algarve road bicycle race has come to an end and the event saw Team Sky’s Geraint Thomas seal overall victory.

Volta ao AlgarveThe world-famous road race, which is a five-stage race that this year took place from 19th-23rd February, saw the Welshman take the Volta ao Algarve crown to make it his fourth career stage-race victory.

The Algarve is renowned for being a great destination for luxurious holidays for singles and offers some great routes and terrain for cycling. Although the Volta ao Algarve event is for professionals, parts of the route and the competitors themselves are great inspiration for budding cyclists.

This was evident during the race as huge crowds turned out to watch some of the best road cyclists in action.

The final stage of the race on Sunday was won by the German rider André Greipel of Lotto-Soudal, but it was Geraint Thomas who took the overall spoils in this early season race.
