Three Algarve beaches make coveted award shortlist Three Algarve beaches have made the ‘7 Wonders – Beaches of Portugal’ shortlist, in a final selection of 21, it has been revealed.

The beaches of Arrifana, Odeceixe and Tavira Island made the cut in a battle to win the coveted title of Portugal’s most spectacular stretch of sand.

Voted for through a public vote, the winner will be announced on 8 September. President of the ERTA Algarve Tourist Board Antonio Pina appealed for support in voting for the beaches.

He said: ‘It is on them that we now have to focus our attention and, above all, vote. We ask everyone who normally goes to these beaches, especially the Algarvians, to contribute with their vote for our – and their – beaches.’
