Greece’s travel and tourism sector is tipped to grow by three per cent during 2014: that’s the message coming from a recent report issued by the World Travel and Tourism Council.

With mainland Greece and its sizeable island chain – including the likes of Corfu, Rhodes and Zante – home to beautiful beaches, stunning scenery and villages steeped in tradition and charm, it’s no surprise that it has long been regarded as one of the most popular destinations for quality singles holidays in Europe. While the study indicated a prosperous year ahead, it also revealed the huge impact the tourism industry has on regional employment – creating work for 657,057 people or 18.2 per cent of the country’s overall working population.
