The 2014 Year in Search study by Google has revealed that Turkey was one of the most Googled holiday destinations in the world this year.
Turkey is renowned for being a popular destination for singles holidays and the country was officially the eighth most searched for holiday destination in 2014.
The Year in Search study by Google revealed that Paris was the most googled holiday destination this year, followed by the USA, New York, Australia, Spain, Cornwall, Turkey, Dubai and Amsterdam.
In the list of rising holiday destinations, which have seen the largest increases in Google searches in 2014, the likes of Greece, Portugal, Benidorm and Iceland all featured.
Many travel experts believe that Iceland becoming a popular stop-over for flights to the US may have helped its popularity this year, while Portugal and parts of Greece are renowned as affordable holiday destinations. Benidorm, of course, has its own television series.
