Spain top spring destination

UK travellers have voted Spain as the top spring destination to visit solo in 2016.

Countries within the Mediterranean came out on top, with 14 per cent of voters naming Spain as the place where they would most like to go alone. Greece came second with 12 per cent, and Italy gaining nine per cent of solo travellers trust.

Spring is a popular time for last-minute singles holidays as long Easter weekends offer the perfect duration for a short city break close to home.

For those seeking a longer holiday, the Dominican Republic was voted the most popular long-haul destination due to its beaches and sightseeing opportunities. Mexico secured eighth place with 5 per cent of the votes for its foodie, sightseeing and beach credentials.

For those who have little time on their hands but wish to jet off for a short break this spring, France was voted ninth for its cheap deals and close proximity to the UK.
