About Friendship Travel

Your host makes sure that everything runs smoothly, from airport transfers to checking out your accommodation.

But he (or she) is also an ice-breaker, a walking encyclopedia, a wine waiter, a conversation-starter, an entertainer and – perhaps above all – a friend when needed. He is ‘on duty’ usually six days during a week’s holiday. On those days he is highly visible at breakfast and dinner and can usually be tracked down at other times, if needed.

A Friendship host is more than happy to recommend and to book sight-seeing excursions, water-sports, activities and local bike or car hire. But if all you want to do is work on your tan, then you do that! If you’re happy, we’re happy.

Our guests are as varied and interesting as most of the population! We strive for a good balance of genders, although women often feel more confident traveling solo.

We cannot promise that you will find your soul-mate, but in any group there is every chance that you will meet interesting, happy people with similar interests to your own – as well as people with completely different interests – which makes for stimulating conversation!

We welcome everyone from the age of 25, with no upper limit. Most of our guests are between 40 and 75 years old, but as you will see in our chat room, many people say that a mixed age range is part of the fun. If you are really concerned about the age of the other travellers on a holiday, call our office for further details.

You’ll be well supported throughout your trip. Most Friendship Travel holidays are hosted by an experienced host, who is there to help with day-to-day arrangements, answer questions and ensure everyone feels comfortable and included. If you need assistance during your holiday, whether it’s about activities, accommodation or general support, your host will be your first point of contact. In addition, our UK office team is always available should any further help be needed, giving you peace of mind from start to finish.

You’ll usually meet your Friendship Travel Host at the airport on on arrival at your destination. Your host will be there to welcome you, help everyone settle in and act as your main point of contact throughout the trip. Full joining instructions, including when and where to meet, will be sent to you before you travel, so you’ll know exactly what to expect.

We aim for a balanced mix of women and men, though in practice there are sometimes slightly more women, as they often feel more confident traveling solo. Either way, the groups are always diverse and full of interesting people.

Accomodation & Dining

We include the cost of transfers by taxi or bus at the beginning and end of your holiday. We are reasonably flexible, but if you choose flight times that are outside our ‘time slot’ then we reserve the right to charge a supplement for an additional journey.

We know from bitter experience how awkward it is to eat alone. A book is a useful shield but hardly a good conversationalist. This is why virtually all our holidays include dinner as well as breakfast.

On hotel holidays, breakfast is usually a moveable feast, depending on the day’s activities. Lunch is usually not included, because you may well be off exploring.

We come together for dinner every evening, except on the host’s day off when you can sample one of the local restaurants with your fellow travellers.

We usually sit together at a large table, with half a bottle of decent wine per person plus bottled water, as well as good food and conversation. Since people do different things during the day, there are plenty of stories to share and plans for the next day to discuss, so dinner often goes on for hours. Please see exact holiday details, to see what food and drinks maybe included with that hotel.

Most of the large hotels serve a wide selection of hot and cold items for breakfast and our smaller ‘house parties’ will provide a wholesome continental breakfast. For dinner in the larger hotels a wide range of dishes will be provided in a buffet or a la carte. In the ‘house parties’ we provide a mixture of set menus and buffet. For exact details of the meal types served at your hotel, just ask.

We offer a wide range of holidays worldwide, staying in many different types of hotels. Each is chosen for location, facilities, value, service, and guest feedback. We’ll share the official star rating where possible, but please note that standards can vary—even between hotels with the same rating. For example, city hotels may feel more polished, while beach resorts often have a more relaxed vibe.

Yes, all of our holidays provide either a single or double/twin room for sole use, with no single supplements.

On our ski holidays, a limited number of rooms can be shared with another guest. For all other trips, everyone enjoys their own private single or double room, so you can relax and unwind in your own space.

Booking Your Holiday

Have a look at our website pages and chat room – where you’ll find more details about our holidays and, perhaps most helpfully, a whole community of single travellers who are happy to exchange opinions and tips.

Some holiday companies print lots of departure dates in their brochures, wait to see which ones are most popular and cancel the other dates, or they run the holiday with only one guest. We don’t do this.

We advertise the departure dates we expect to operate with a good number of guests. We rarely cancel a departure and occasionally add additional dates if the demand is there. This means that you can book as early as you like, confident that the holiday is going to happen!

Give us a call on 0289 446 2211 – we’re happy to help.

We are an independent company with a friendly team that knows our resorts and hotels at first hand. Many of us are single travellers and we want to help you enjoy a great holiday – especially if it is the first time you have travelled alone. We chose Friendship Travel as our name because it says everything about our holidays and about us.

Choosing Your Holiday

Prices are in Pound Sterling and – of course – are per person. In 90% of holidays the price shown includes accommodation and flights. If we book a low-cost flight for you, we do charge £40 admin fee.

With very different holidays on offer, you need to read the individual holiday description to see what is included for each one, but generally we provide:

  • Return flights including all taxes
  • A standard double or twin room for your sole use
  • Airport transfers at the start and end of the holiday
  • Breakfast every day and – on some holidays, lunches and dinners
  • The services of a Friendship host – or local representative on certain holidays (some Caribbean, Skiing and Water Sport Resorts)
  • Some holidays include relevant activities, such as skiing or excursions: again, please check the individual holiday descriptions.

While our holidays are sociable and group-based, there’s no obligation to stay with the group all the time. You’re free to enjoy activities, explore independently or relax at your own pace.

Most Friendship Travel holidays are accompanied by a dedicated Friendship Travel Host. Your host is there to welcome the group, help with arrangements, organise social activities and provide support throughout your holiday.

Group sizes vary depending on the destination and holiday type, but they are generally kept to a comfortable, sociable size. This makes it easy to get to know fellow travellers while still allowing plenty of personal space.

The best holiday for you depends on your interests, travel style and preferred pace. Whether you’re looking for relaxation, culture, activity or social events, we offer a wide range of options. If you’re unsure, our friendly team is always happy to help you choose a holiday that suits you best.

Flights & Travel

Yes, if it is available. For instance, Rhodes in Greece has flights from 22 UK airports and we can book any of them. On the other hand, some resorts are served by only a few airports. For further information, see the individual holiday pages or call the Friendship office.

Yes you can, but since we can access Ryanair, EasyJet, Jet 2 and all the other airlines, you are unlikely to find a cheaper fare! If you book flights which do not coincide with our usual airport transfer timings, we reserve the right to charge a supplement for an additional transfer.

If you require special assistance at the airport or during your flight, please let us know at the time of booking. We can arrange to book special assistance for you, via the airline or airport, to make your journey as smooth as possible.

Yes. Some of our holidays can be booked accommodation-only, without flights. This is ideal if you prefer to make your own travel arrangements or are joining from a different location. Just call and speak to our team to confirm availability and pricing.

Yes, where included in the flight. Most airlines offer special meal options, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other dietary requirements. Please let us know your request when booking so we can pass this on to the airline in advance.

Yes, airport transfers are included on most of our holidays when flights are part of the package. This means you’ll be met on arrival and transferred to your accommodation along with other members of the group. Full details will be confirmed in your travel documents.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that your flight will arrive or depart on time. Any delays, regardless of their cause, are the responsibility of the airline and are governed by their ‘Conditions of Carriage’. This includes the provision of meals or accommodation during a delay, which is also the airline’s responsibility.

If a delay results in lost holiday time, Friendship Travel cannot provide refunds for unused accommodation or meals, as these cannot be resold, and hotels will apply full cancellation charges. Holiday arrangements cannot be adjusted to compensate for flight delays, whether your flights are booked through Friendship Travel as part of your package or independently while joining a Friendship Travel group.

Any compensation related to flight delays must be claimed directly from the airline. Friendship Travel cannot request or process compensation on your behalf.

If the UK Foreign Office advises against travel to your destination, we will contact you to discuss your options. This may include rebooking, postponing or refund arrangements, in line with our booking conditions and applicable travel regulations.

Solo Travel

No. Our solo holidays are designed for people travelling independently, not based on relationship status. Whether you’re single, divorced, widowed or simply travelling on your own, you’re very welcome.

We take the stress out of travelling alone by organising accommodation, transport and group activities in advance. You’ll have your own room, a welcoming group of fellow solo travellers, and a friendly host to help everything run smoothly.

Absolutely. Many of our guests are first-time solo travellers. Our holidays are designed to be sociable, supportive and well organised, making them a great introduction to travelling on your own while still enjoying the company of others.

Most holidays are accompanied by an experienced Friendship Travel Host, who helps bring the group together, organises social activities and is on hand for support. You’ll also have the reassurance of our UK office team if you need any additional assistance.

We offer a wide variety of solo holidays, including beach breaks, city breaks, walking holidays, cruises, ski trips, and special event holidays. With destinations across the UK, Europe and worldwide, there’s something to suit every travel style.

Yes. Our holidays are designed to be social, giving you plenty of opportunities to meet and get to know other solo travellers through shared meals, activities and excursions — while still allowing you freedom and personal space when you want it.
