This is an unforgettable small group tour and the dates we have chosen mean you can enjoy this to the full: not too hot to explore Petra and the Wadi Rum desert; warm enough to enjoy the buoyancy of the Dead Sea, go snorkelling in the coral-rich waters of the Gulf of Aqaba and relax at our resort hotels.

We send our own Friendship Travel Host from the UK to accompany the tour throughout, and when we are sightseeing we connect with local guides who are passionate about sharing the history and culture of their country.
In this 10-night tour, we discover four different facets of Jordan and include so much in our package, plus a day excursion also in Israel and yet the balance of exploration and relaxation seems to us just right.

Please note that due to a change in flights for this trip, the itinerary printed in our brochure has changed slightly. The correct itinerary for this amazing holiday is -

Day 1 Upon arrival, a member of our staff will meet you at Queen Alia International Airport. Transfer to hotel in Dead Sea.
Day 2 The day is free to discover the hotel and surrounding area.
Day 3 Tour to Israel.
Day 4 After breakfast head south for a full days visit to the city of Petra, aptly described as the 'red-rose city.' The ancient city was founded by the Nabateans 2000 years ago. Its massive architectural structure and its multicolored stones are an incredible attraction. The visit of the ancient Nabatean capital starts on horseback, followed by a walk through the Siq, a long narrow fissure between two overhanging cliffs. Towards the end of the Siq, you will be spellbound by Petra's most famous monument; the Treasury. The tour then proceeds to gradually unfold the mysteries of the city. Lunch is enjoyed at the Petra Basin Restaurant.
Day 5 After breakfast proceed to Beida, also known as little Petra and the place where the Nabateans used to entertain their guests. Continue south to the enchanting desert of Wadi Rum, Jordan's largest desert and one of the most spectacular desert landscapes in the world. Lunch at the Sun City Camp Restaurant. Jeep Tour inside the Wadi. Watch the most beautiful view while drinking a cup of traditional Bedouin tea. Transfer to the campsite inside the desert.
Day 6 Morning transfer to Aqaba. Check in at hotel and free day at leisure.
Day 7 Free day at leisure in Aqaba. Those interested in Scuba Diving or snorkeling can enjoy the sport at one of the world's most conserved coral reefs.
Day 8 Free day to explore the area and hotel.
Day 9 Free day at leisure in Aqaba. Afternoon transfer back to Amman
Day 10 Transfer back to the airport.

We choose international-brand hotels in Aqaba and beside the Dead Sea, such as the 5-star InterContinental Hotel Aqaba, which has a private beach, lagoon-style pool complex and comprehensive Spa offering. There’s a great range of watersports on the beach, and the old town’s souk, food stalls and lively cafes are a 15 minutes’ walk away.

At the Dead Sea, the 4-star Holiday Inn Resort has three palm-fringed pools in gardens facing the Dead Sea, with direct access to its shore. Of course, the hotel Spa uses natural Dead Sea products in massages and treatments (additional cost).

Wadi Musa is the desert town beside the archaeological wonder of Petra. Our overnight base is the well-reviewed Petra Guest House, a modern hotel on an ancient site, which offers friendly 4-star service in a superb location. Right beside the hotel is Wadi Musa’s famous Cave Bar – often billed as ‘the oldest bar in the world’ because it has been developed within a 1st century Nabatean rock tomb.

Our night in the desert is a unique experience, with individual tents for sleeping and a central tent for dining/relaxing, plus basic wc/washing provision!

In Amman we have the stunning 5* House Boutique Suites.

The Hotel

All hotels are of 4* or higher quality with excellent facilities. Our Overseas Manager, Mel, Hosted this trip in 2019 and is happy to answer any questions.

Jordan is at the cross-roads of the ancient world and set in a Biblical landscape. Aqaba’s historic port offers 14th century ruins at Mamluk Fort and a thriving souk. By contrast, sophisticated Jordanians come for its sandy beaches and Red Sea watersports: the coral gardens are bursting with sea-life and dive sites within a protected marine park.

An hour or so away is the desert of Wadi Rum. It is home to tribes who delight in showing us the austere beauty of the desert in hard-driven 4x4s: we also enjoy lunch, dinner under the stars and a night in a Bedouin camp!
The city of Petra is at least 2000 years old, carved by the Nabatean civilisation out of sandstone in the heart of the desert. There’s the option to complete the last 800m on horseback, or to walk: either way, approaching the Treasury through the narrow fissure of the Siq is an extraordinary experience – and just the start of an amazing visit!

In contrast, at 423 metres below sea level, the Dead Sea is the lowest point on the surface of the earth. Its mineral-rich waters are on the retreat by a metre a year and scientists fear this natural wonder may dry out within a generation.
What variety! Ancient cities, desert landscapes and sophisticated resorts. In February we can expect sunny days at the beach with highs to 21C; cooler in the mountains and at night. Less than 6 hours away, this sophisticated and welcoming Kingdom is a truly unique destination.

While we are at the Dead Sea we enjoy a full day tour with lunch into Israel with a tour to Jerusalem and Bethlehem with lunch included. A departure tax coming back from Israel into the Dead Sea is payable of USD 50 cash. If you don't wish to do this excursion, you can relax by the hotel / beach, in Dead Sea.

Flights - BA Flights from Heathrow. We can book connecting flights to/hotels at Heathrow for guests in Scotland and Ireland.
Visa - We arrange this and can advise on booking. Note that your passport must have minimum 6-month validity.
Mobility - Visiting Petra requires a good level of mobility and sturdy footwear. There are hundreds of steps and the site can only be explored on foot. If in doubt, discuss with us before you book.
Tipping  - This is expected in Jordan, eg for horse-back ride and the services of local guides.
