Greece has official had their most successful season on record, attracting more people into the country than ever before.

The country expects to exceed 27 million international arrivals before the end of the year, which includes cruises.

A few months ago, we wrote about how Greece was continuing to be a successful holiday destination and now it seems that they have even managed to better the boom that they saw in 2015.

International arrivals were up 7 percent in the nine months through September, in contrast to the year before, while the four summer months from July were the sector’s best ever.

The Mediterranean destination has been a popular holiday choice for singles, offering resorts like Rhodes, Athens and Zante.

Greece’s alternate minister for tourism Elena Kountoura, has said that 2016 has been “another great year for Greek tourism.”

“By the end of the year, international arrivals are expected to exceed 27 million, including cruise arrivals, which is a new high record for Greece,” she said at the World Travel Market in London.

Many experts believe that roughly 25 percent of Greece’s annual gross domestic product (GDP) comes from the tourism industry, and after worrying financial problems, it is incredible to see the country bouncing right back.

Santorini Greece

Popular destination Santorini broke their own records, after their best-ever October. Authorities believe that it is now going to turn into a year-round destination, which would be a serious bonus for the Greek economy.
