Port el Kantaoui, Tunisia

For year-round sunshine, fantastic value and a truly warm welcome, Tunisia is the perfect choice. We’re delighted to offer 7, 10 or 14-night stays at the stylish 5-star Iberostar Selection Diar El Andalous, a stunning beachfront hotel ideal for a relaxing, festive reading retreat.

Each evenings we’ll gather over dinner to connect, share insights, and enjoy thoughtful literary discussions.

Our Book Club meetings will focus on the following 2 books –

A Spell of Winter by Helen Dunmore — a beautifully written and atmospheric novel exploring memory, isolation, and the complexities of family relationships. Set in the quiet stillness of the English countryside, the story unfolds through a reflective narrator, revealing hidden emotions, unspoken tensions, and the lingering impact of the past. With its haunting tone and rich imagery, the novel delicately examines loss, longing, and the fragile nature of innocence.

The Tremor of Forgery by Patricia Highsmith – A tense and psychologically charged novel that explores identity, morality, and the shifting nature of truth. Set against the stark, sun-drenched backdrop of Tunisia, the story follows a troubled writer whose isolation and disconnection begin to blur the boundaries between reality and imagination. As unease quietly builds, Highsmith reveals the character’s inner conflicts, moral ambiguity, and growing detachment from conventional norms. With its unsettling atmosphere and sharp psychological insight, the novel examines guilt, perception, and the fragile line between innocence and complicity.

In addition to our Book Club dinners, we’ll enjoy a special “A Book I Love” evening, where each guest can share a personal favourite — inspiring lively conversation and new literary discoveries.

Also included in this holiday are 2 excursions –

  • Kairouan Holy City and El Jem Colosseum Tour from Sousse – Uncover the history of one of the world’s oldest Muslim spiritual centers on a day trip to Kairouan from Sousse. Exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site on a tour not only provides a round-trip transportation, but also helps you delve deeper into Kairouan’s rich history than you could alone. You’ll also stop at El Jem Amphitheatre, a Roman masterpiece that’s Tunisia’s answer to the Colosseum. Read more about – Kairouan Holy City and El Jem Colosseum Tour from Sousse
