Agadir, Morocco

For some of the best weather on the Moroccan coast, Agadir is a great choice, especially in the winter months. Morocco offers a warm welcome to visitors and we’re delighted to be able to offer this stylish hotel. Set directly on one of Morocco’s longest, sandy beaches and cooled by Atlantic breezes, the hotel was renovated a few years ago to create a contemporary coastal haven.

Our Book Club meetings will focus on the following book –

The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles – Our chosen book follows an American couple traveling in North Africa whose relationship unravels as they face isolation and hardship. After the husband dies, the wife drifts into psychological collapse, highlighting themes of alienation and existential uncertainty.

In addition to our Book Club dinners, we’ll enjoy a special “A Book I Love” evening, where each guest can share a personal favourite — inspiring lively conversation and new literary discoveries.

Books in Places creates exceptional reading retreats and literary escapes for book lovers, offering opportunities to connect with fellow readers and travellers who share your passions. Most guests join us solo, and single occupancy is the standard. However, twin rooms are available for those who prefer to share the experience with a friend or partner.

Your trip organiser is Paul Wright, or one of his experienced team – With over six years of experience running large book clubs in Bristol and Exeter, Paul has cultivated a deep understanding of what makes a great gathering. Since 2023, he has organised Books in Places trips, blending his love of literature and travel. the focus for the trip is on creating relaxed and sociable experiences where like-minded people can connect over books they love.

Iberostar Founty Beach Hotel – Reading Retreat

The (mainly) buffet menus feature Moroccan as well as international dishes, with show cooking at dinner, with enough variety to make our all-inclusive plan the sensible option. Stylish and sociable bars include the Orion, which offers sunset views. The spa (with an indoor pool) is a haven of calm, while the beach is great for jogging, ball games and camel rides!

In Agadir there is a local nightly tourism tax of €1.60 per day, this must be paid in Euro or Dirham cash at hotel check in.
