Rhodes, Greece

On of the best solo beach holidays has to be Rhodes in Greece, providing solo travellers with the perfect blend of history and seaside fun. This beautiful Greek island offers visitors a chance to relax on a wide range of sun-soaked beaches and an opportunity to explore epic ruins like the Acropolis at Lindos.

With a string of lovely beaches to visit, water sports aplenty, boat trips, and pretty whitewashed houses, there’s plenty for solo travellers to look forward to. Melissa, a solo traveller from the blog A Solo Woman Traveling, has visited Rhodes and spoke to us about why she thinks it is a great destination for a beach holiday:

“What I loved most about Rhodes was that you could easily visit the beach as well as explore a really cool medieval city. Sometimes, on other islands, the city is located further away from the beach, but that is not the case in Rhodes. It was the perfect place to visit for someone who wanted to spend time at the beach and explore historical sites.”

Johnny, from the travel blog Johnny Africa, has enjoyed visiting Oludeniz himself, and spoke to us about what he loves about it: “Oludeniz is an absolutely stunning bay in the south of Turkey. The waters there have that beautiful turquoise colour that we all love about the Mediterranean along with a dramatic backdrop of mountains.

“There’s also plenty of things to do in the area including boat trips, beautiful beaches, and of course the world-famous paragliding over the Blue Lagoon. This was my first time paragliding and it’s hard to top the views overlooking Oludeniz. If you want to avoid the crowds, there are hidden beaches nearby that are relatively accessible where you can avoid the crowds. Oludeniz is a great place to visit as a standalone getaway or a place to end a longer Turkey trip.”
